Why nobody can give you a price list
The useful question is not what software costs. It is what has to be built, connected, supported and changed over the years. Two applications can look identical on screen and differ enormously underneath.
Discovery pays for itself
A couple of weeks spent pinning down who uses the system, what the processes are, which data matters and what a sensible first release looks like will save money later. Changes are cheap on paper and expensive in code.
What really moves the price
Complexity, mostly: the number of user roles, the rules, the reports. Estimate from what the system has to do, not from the number of screens.
Integrations come next. Connecting to a CRM, finance system, email, identity or payments can be a big part of the work, so list them early.
Budget for version two
Business software rarely stops at the first release. Maintenance, security updates, enhancements and support are part of the real cost, and AI features bring running costs of their own.
